Last updated: July 13, 2026
Follow these steps to send your first transactional email with FlowPost and Shopify Flow.
1. Install the apps
- Install Shopify Flow from the Shopify App Store.
- Install FlowPost and open it from Apps in Shopify Admin.
2. Connect an email provider
- In FlowPost, open Settings.
- Choose a provider (SMTP or API provider such as Resend, SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark, Amazon SES, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365).
- Enter credentials / API keys and save.
- Optionally configure a fallback provider.
- Use Test send to confirm delivery.
3. Create a Flow workflow
- Go to Shopify Admin → Flow.
- Create a workflow (example trigger: Order created).
- Add the action Send transactional email (FlowPost).
- Fill To, Subject, and HTML body—or paste content from FlowPost → Templates.
- Optionally set From email, Reply-to, and Attachment URLs (HTTPS links).
- Turn the workflow on.
4. Verify
- Place a test order (or run the workflow manually if available).
- Confirm the email arrives in the inbox.
- Open FlowPost → Logs to see send status.
- On Growth / Scale, configure provider delivery webhooks in Settings so status updates to delivered / bounced.
Tips
- Authenticate your sending domain (SPF/DKIM) with your email provider.
- Use a real From address on a domain you control.
- For billing and plan limits, open FlowPost → Pricing.
- Scale includes priority processing (more concurrent sends under load).
